Antique Pewter Fork and Spoon 8.25 In Full Name Moranne Leon Incassable with Touchmark
> Antique heirlooms known to be c. mid 1800s and possibly earlier
> Pieces have matching handles that are flattish and rounded at the bottoms with a thin raised vertical line at the midpoint of the fronts
> Both pieces are marked
> The fork is imprinted with the word INCASSABLE, which means "unbreakable" in French and a maker's touchmark that we cannot make out
> The spoon is marked in raised relief with a full name .MORANNE.LEON on the underside of the handle
> Both pieces measure approximately 8.25 inches long
> Weight of both pieces together is 5.2 ounces
CONDITION: Pieces have not been polished and have normal age-related patina and signs of wear. The Moranne Leon full name mark is still legible, as are the inscribed letters "NCASSABLE" in the word "INCASSABLE." Artisan's touchmark is partially visible and but we cannot make out the letters or symbols. The tips of the fork tines are slightly uneven in length. The upper part of the spoon handle is a bit crooked, and, given the softness of the metal, could be bent back into shape, but we are leaving it as is.
